Toby's Easter Challenge

Toby decided that he wanted to make something out of Lego without an Easter theme. He therefore made this aeroplane which is currently parked on a tower. It has a rope from the back, which has a man connected to it, that you cannot see in this shot. The man is hanging on the rope because the plane is saving him from the sea.

Sam's Easter Challenge

Sam has made this Easter Egg shaped swimming pool for his Easter challenge. You can see the shallow end of the pool on the left hand side where the mini figures are waist deep in the water. In the deep end, on the right, you can just see the heads of the swimmers there. Sam says that it was quite a challenge to find pieces that were the right size and so in parts he had to use different sized pieces.

Playing Computer Games

Like most boys of their age, Toby and Sam do love playing computer games. They started playing Cbeebies, when they were little and then progressed on to Bin Weevils, Club Penguin and Minecraft. They used to always play the same games, but have more recently discovered that they can have a lot of fun playing on games sites that have a selection of games, which means that when they get bored of one game, they can play a different one instead.

For example, it can be great to play flash games at Get Ahead of the Games or similar sites where there is a whole selection of games in different categories and so something fir everyone. The boys are not keen on the fashion or dress-up games of course, but the arcade, action, shooting, fighting, role play and football games certainly appeal to them. They enjoy being able to select from a choice of different games and with so many, there will be something to suit anyone.

They enjoy playing games together, seeing whether they can beat each other's score or sharing hints and tips with each other which means that they are still interacting together, despite being on the computer. I really like this because many parents do worry about their children missing out socially when they are playing, but it does not happen to the boys.

Easter Challenge!

I have set the boys a challenge to build me something Easter related this holiday. I found this great picture of a bunny and I notice there are other great Easter themed Lego things around. Me and the boys will be making our Easter tree today, hanging eggs on some sticks in a vase. Hopefully, this will inspire them to get in to the Easter mood and want to use their Lego to make some great items too. I will take pictures of anything they make on here.

Legoland is Open!

The boys are very excited about the fact that Legoland is now open for the year. It is unlikely that we will be going though, as we have already booked a holiday in Wales for the summer (if we get one?!). Duploland is new for this year and so if we did visit we would get to see something new. I think the hotel was actually more fun for the children than the park itself and so we would need to stay for a while to make the most of it. This does mean more expense but in my opinion it was well worth it because they had such a lot of fun there. It also made the whole trip far less exhausting for the grown ups as we could take our time doing things and did not have to worry about a long journey home after a very busy day at the park. I think that if you have children that are fond of lego then it is something that you should do, once they are old enough to remember it as we took away so many happy memories.

Red Nose Day

I set the boys a challenge of doing a red nose day picture and this is what they came up with. If you look carefully, you will see that the word 'red' is spelt out using minifigure heads. The red theme is kept through the house and the ship, although the characters are not wearing red.

Asterix Scene

Sam is a big fan of Asterix. He created this feast scene from Lego. All of the characters are sitting around a feast table and in front of each of them is a serving of wild boar. Yummy!

Lego Creations

Toby has been busy lately making all sorts of Lego designs. This is one that he wanted to share. It is a scene with all sorts of warriors ready to attack. He hopes that you like it!

Legoland

We all did have a fantastic time at Legoland. It seems rather a long time ago as it was back in October! We did take lots of great pictures and put them on Facebook rather than this blog! The boys are determined to go back to Legoland soon as well!

This photo was taken in the hotel reception area which was packed with fun things including a building area and a shop. I would highly recommend going, it is expensive but was so worth it for the delight in the children's faces and the fun that we all had. They are still talking about it now, nearly six months after it happened and want to go back as soon as we can. I am not sure if we will go back, as we want to have other types of holidays but we will certainly recommend it to others.
